When Chokpreecha PK Saenchai and Kongchai Chanaidonmueang stepped into the ring on November 15, 2024, at ONE Friday Fights 87, they put on a fight that defines ONE Championship’s weekly series — and now, seven months after their classic war of attrition, they’re going to do it all over again.

The Thai strawweights will meet in a rematch at ONE Friday Fights 108 on May 16 and it has Lumpinee Stadium faithfuls in Bangkok lined up at the doors.

In their first bout, Kongchai got the unanimous decision nod after three ruthless rounds of action. The long and lanky fighter used his counter attacks to fend off the bull-rushing Chokpreecha. The latter kept the fight close with his dirty boxing and work from within the clinch.

“I always thought about rematch with Kongchai,” Chokpreecha said, “given how closely contested our first fight was. A rematch was necessary to prove our skills and eliminate any doubts. I made several mistakes in our first fight, so this rematch is an opportunity to rectify those mistakes.”

But Kongchai has since lost to Ramadan Ondash and Chartpayak Saksatoon. Chokpreechai, on the other hand, bounced back with a knockout win over Chalamdam Sor Boonmerit.

Chokpreecha is primed to avenge the loss to his former tormentor, but Kongchai sees his compatriot as a path back into the win column. With the US$100,000 contract and spot on ONE Championship’s roster always just a win away, he wants this win more than ever.

“In our second fight, I expect Chokpreecha will be as aggressive as ever,” Kongchai said. “Regarding his claim of heavier strikes, we’ll have to witness that in the ring. Personally, I’m bringing my usual relentless and hardworking approach to the fight. I guarantee I’ll maintain constant pressure, keep pressing, and throw weapons relentlessly.”
