Abdulla Dayakaev defeated Superlek by second-round TKO in their bantamweight Muay Thai rematch at The Inner Circle 25 on Friday, August 7, after the Thai star’s right leg buckled during an exchange at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.
The stoppage came 39 seconds into round two, improving Dayakaev’s record to 17-3 and giving him a second consecutive win over Superlek, the reigning ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion. Their first meeting in May ended in a split decision for Dayakaev.
Superlek had opened the rematch strongly, disrupting Dayakaev’s rhythm with low kicks and a step-through elbow. Dayakaev answered with a left hook, and both fighters described the first round as close.
“I think the first round was close. He caught me with a right elbow, and I caught him with a left hook. We didn’t show much in the first round,” Dayakaev said.
Dayakaev, 24, said he intends to move on from the rivalry and wished Superlek a speedy recovery. He is now targeting the winner of the upcoming ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title fight between Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon and Yod-IQ Or Pimolsri at The Inner Circle 30 on September 11.
Suakim PongSuphan PK’s win over Nabil Anane at the same Inner Circle 25 card has already secured the next bantamweight Muay Thai title opportunity, meaning Dayakaev’s own title pursuit will need to wait its turn.
