How Long Are The Fights At Rajadamnern?
As you can see from the table above, the events run between two and four hours long. The two-hour events don’t feel condensed because there are fewer fights and less fanfare. For the three- and four-hour events, there are more fights and more fanfare. So you won’t even notice the longer time. The events that do allow gambling provide an experience so rich in sensory detail that no other form of entertainment comes close to it. The hair on my neck still stands up every time the bettors erupt in unison, and I love watching the eyes of first-time visitors widen as they take it all in.

- Knockout: The Monday, Tuesday, and Friday night Knockout events are promoted by Rajadamnern and feature fighters who are still building their experience on the circuit. These are traditional five-round Muay Thai fights, complete with the pre-fight ceremonious wai kru and a passionate betting section. Though, the crowds tend to be smaller on these nights, so the atmosphere might not be as lively as a Thursday or Saturday.
- New Power: The Wednesday New Power event also features traditional five-round fights, the wai kru, and gamblers. But the quality of fights is a step above what you’d see at a Knockout event. Some of these fighters have experience competing at the top of the sport. In my opinion, the New Power events are some of the most underrated in all of Muay Thai. In fact, I could count on one hand how many times I’ve seen a boring New Power event during my time as a hobbyist ringside photographer at this event.
- Petchyindee: Petchyindee is one of the most recognizable promotions in Muay Thai, having been promoting fights for decades. These Thursday events feature everything that comes with traditional five-round fights and are built around solid matchmaking, which means they deliver on excitement. The promoter, Sia Boat, is passionate about his product and it shows. This is one of those events that the old-school gamblers still get behind, week after week. You can feel their cheers reverberating off the stadium walls.
- RWS: The RWS event on Saturday is the stadium’s most popular spectacle. The event focuses on three-round entertainment Muay Thai, with only the occasional title fight running five rounds. The stadium changed up the format for this night to cater to a newer, younger crowd of spectators who might not want to be around the gamblers. In fact, gambling on Saturdays at Rajadamnern isn’t allowed. Many first-time visitors to Rajadamnern pick this event because of its wow factor, but those looking for a more authentic experience might want to skip it. The night tends to focus more on the spectacle (immersive ceiling, T-shirt giveaways, dance cams) than the actual fights. I go to the stadiums to watch Muay Thai, and anything that takes away from that experience is just added noise.
- Kiatpetch: Kiatpetch is another established promotion in Thailand’s Muay Thai world. It promotes traditional Muay Thai on Sundays and features many established fighters from around the circuit. The atmosphere at these events mirrors that of the other traditional five-round events at Rajadamnern, so you can expect the public betting crowd to be throwing hand signals all night as well.
How Many Nights A Week Does Rajadamnern Have Fights?

What Time Do Rajadamnern Stadium’s Events Start (And When Do They Get Good)?
The Muay Thai fights at Rajadamnern Stadium start between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Usually, the less experienced fighters fight first. This is because they might not be at the same skill level as the more established fighters, leading to less exciting fights or sloppier technique.
As the night progresses, though, the quality of the fights increases. That said, you should plan on getting to the stadium one hour before show time, as some seats at Rajadamnern are first-come, first-served. But no matter what time you decide to arrive, always stay for the final few fights. Those are the best, featuring the more experienced fighters.
How Far Ahead Is Rajadamnern Stadium’s Fight Schedule Published?
Rajadamnern Stadium publishes its Muay Thai fight schedule around the first of every month, usually on its Instagram page. If any changes do come up during the month, the stadium will announce it via Instagram. If you’re planning a future trip to Bangkok and are still a few months out, you can rest assured knowing that Rajadamnern rarely ever deviates from its monthly schedule. Rajadamnern Stadium’s Dark Nights And Holiday Closures
This is one of the many things that separates Rajadamnern from Lumpinee Stadium. Rajadamnern has no regular dark nights. It sometimes closes for holidays and periods of royal mourning. Recently, the government has allowed certain entertainment venues to continue operating during royal mourning periods, but the stadiums will usually tone down the energy levels.
