Rodtang Jitmuangnon retracted allegations that ONE Championship employees forged his signature and apologized to the organization’s boss, Chatri Sityodtong, in a statement posted to Facebook on Thursday.
The dispute began in April, when Rodtang said his ONE contract had expired and stated he was open to offers from other promotions. Reports at the time cited a 12-month matching period in his previous agreement.
Rodtang subsequently alleged his signature had been forged on contract documents and said he had taken the matter to police, though Bangkok Post reporting indicated no formal complaint against ONE was ultimately filed. ONE denied the forgery allegation and filed legal action against Rodtang in Thailand, Japan, and Singapore, with the Thai case seeking damages of up to 542 million Thai Baht over alleged contract breaches and defamatory statements.
“ONE has always paid me more than the amounts stated in my contracts. Not a single person within ONE forged my signature,” said Rodtang.
Rodtang attributed his prior actions to poor advice from associates he said he has since cut ties with.
“It is true that after I began gaining fame and money, many new people came into my life. Among them were several people who did not genuinely wish me well, but only wanted to benefit and make money from me,” said Rodtang.
A rematch between Rodtang and Takeru Segawa proceeded at ONE Samurai 1 following an earlier press conference at Jitmuangnon Gym. Rodtang lost that bout by fifth-round stoppage, his first knockout defeat in 13 years, while Takeru won the ONE interim flyweight kickboxing world title.
Rodtang signed a new contract with ONE Thailand five days after appearing as a spectator at The Inner Circle 22, where he embraced Takeru and addressed the crowd at Lumpinee Stadium.
The terms of the new agreement were not disclosed, and it remains unclear whether the legal proceedings in Thailand, Japan, and Singapore have been formally withdrawn.
“The best way to prove my sincerity is to come back and win the world championship again, bringing honor and pride to Thailand and Jitmuangnon Gym,” said Rodtang.
